The need for approval

In advertising, it just goes on and on. First, your partner has to like your idea enough to work on it. Then your creative director has to like your idea enough to okay it. Then the acount people have to like it enough to take it out and sell it. Then the client has to like your idea enough to take it to his boss. Then his boss has to like your idea enough to pay for it. Then the celebrity you're hoping to feature in the ad has to like it enough to want to be associated with it. Then consumers have to like it enough to spend their money on the product. Then award show judges have to like it enough to give it a medal. It's exhausting. But maybe it's part of creative people's DNA. Because my secret theory is that creative people are people who crave approval - in every part of their lives. Their work is just one more way they need to be loved.
Agree? Disagree?
